This is the web log of Mike Christianson- musician, who lives in an area near NYC that was once referred to (by the Dutch, no surprise) as "Slooterdam".

Team Town

I decided that it was time that there was a baseball team to represent Slooterdam. So, I created a team in the computer based Stats Diamond Legends League. This league allows you to choose most anyone from baseball history to play on your team, within a set budget, with th "rookies" being people who have been out of baseball for abut 15 years (today's players can be used in a different league). My team: Slooterdam Nation started out like this:

C- Ernie Lombardi
C- Muddy Ruel
1B- John Mayberry
2B- Bobby Grich
2B- Sibby Sisti
3B- Puddin' Head Jones
3B- Billy Grabarkewitz
SS- Glenn Wright
LF- Jesse Burkett
CF- Bill North
RF- Tony Conigliaro
DH- Ken Phelps
OF- Mule Haas
SP- Fritz Peterson
SP- Joaquin Andujar
SP- Denny LeMaster
SP- Craig Swan
MR- Spec Shea
MR- Boom-Boom Beck
MR- Reid Cornelius
Cl- Dan Quisenberry

SN started out middlingly, then tanked their way to the cellar, where they have been comfortably nestled ever since at 19-34 (154 game season). However, there has been a shakeup on the team , and we have renewed hope! Gone, due to insuborination, sloth, or general lameness are: Bobby Grich, John Mayberry, Puddin' Head Jones, Mule Haas, Spec Shea, Boom-Boom Beck and Reid Cornelius. In their places are: Tony Lazzeri, Zeke Bonura, Mike Higgins, Ira Flagstead, Alan Foster, Chuck Smith, and Randy Tomlin. These new charges, I am sure, can lead Slooterdam Nation to mediocrity!
